I HAVE SEEN A PLACE The oil bill is too high I can’t afford to pay it anymore The food bill is way too high I can’t afford to eat it anymore And as a child I remember As a child I remember I didn’t need no money I didn’t need it I didn’t need it I didn’t need no money Well I didn’t need it I didn’t need it I have seen a place A place where everybody lives for free It’s a special place A place where everybody gets to be Anything they can imagine Anything they can imagine You don’t need no money You don’t need it You don’t need it You don’t need no money You don’t need it You don’t need it And as child I remember As a child I remember well Before I was born I was out there Decided to come back to the sea of commerce Tried it out - didn’t like it I got more important things I’d rather do with my time I DON'T NEED YOUR LOVIN' So I cry… I cry myself to sleep each night When I die – in my dreams I see a light I try to run but it follows every move I make – like a spy And even though it seems so hopeless – so cruel I think the bigger problem here is You! I don’t need your lovin’ I don’t need your oven I only need something that’s true to me I don’t need your money I don’t need your honey I only need somewhere I’m suppose to be when I’m lost And I have seen that place A place where love is always guaranteed Cold wind blows Sitting lonesome on the porch Wonder why You are late… Messing with the time I can’t get back Even though you called You lied I don’t need your lovin’ I don’t need your oven I only need something that’s true to me I don’t need your money I don’t need your honey I only need somewhere I’m suppose to be when I’m lost And I have seen that place A place where love is always guaranteed And as a child I remember I’m not about to toss it out to sea

COLD WIND BLOWS Down by the iceberg there’s a million men They fight to find the girl of their dreams I walk around like the loser from hell I’m outta my league - whatever that means But someday when my fish comes in There she’ll be waiting underneath my wings Patience is a virtue son Except when more than half of your life is done Cold wind blows on my forehead Cold wind blows through my soul Satiate the wait to find the perfect mate But first I need to tuck and roll For true believers only Just give me one more chance That’s all I need for romance tonight Just give me one more chance I got my body tux finally waxed and tight I dream about finding someone with some clout Who can take me in and out of this cold So far it’s been no show you‘d think by now I’d let it go Excuse me if I seem so emotional Cold wind blows on my forehead Cold wind blows through my soul Satiate the wait to find the perfect mate Searching through this endless snow Cold wind blows on your forehead Cold wind blows through your soul Keep on trudging down that mountain Keep on searching high and low For true believers only All us fools so desperate for love

AS I WANDER DOWN THE STREET As I wander down the street Just a prisoner of my own free will I look at everyone I meet So lost and lonely as the hills And if the sea nearby remembers why it gave to us this thing called life Maybe then we’ll have an answer For the crazy stuff that happens in our lives But if we could have the answer would that brings us to a halt? Is it best to never know exactly why Maybe ignorance is bliss and the best that we can do is Enjoy some laughs along this ride… This is the moment - the refresher - the vendetta This is the time to see right through See through the noise, all the chaos and bad weather This is a moment here for you You can share it too Trying hard to make connections in this world Sometimes the search can wear away your will I’ve heard some say you have to look inside yourself Be still my beating heart be still Anticipation heightens up the thrill But if a soulmate from the outside should distract us from ourselves Would the outcome truly justify the means We can hold on tight to saviors - but one day they’ll have to go Is it worth the pain? - I don’t know… But this is the moment - the refresher - the vendetta This is the time to see right through See through the noise - all the chaos and bad weather This is a moment here for you You can share it too The space around us like the space between All is equal and divine There are no judgements in this neutral scene And nothing here gets lost or left behind This is the moment - the refresher - the vendetta This is the time to see right through See through the noise - all the chaos and bad weather This is a moment here for you You can share it too

I REMEMBER LINDA Do I remember Linda? Yes I remember Linda I remember Linda back in the day I remember Linda Like I remember pizza I remember Linda like yesterday I first met her playing flute in band I saw the brightness in her eyes I tracked her down and told her I felt But she thought that I was high And it broke my heart She changed the path of my life Do I remember Linda? Yes, I remember Linda I remember Linda back in the day I remember Linda Like I remember ice cream I remember Linda like a sunny day

MORNING GLORY She likes to fool around He likes to play in town They like to meet up at the Morning Glory They talk about their day With nothing new to say They like the comfort of the Morning Glory Yeah, the Morning Glory Is where they find some common ground The Morning Glory Is where they feel so safe and sound It’s a story that never ends A story about two friends They met by accident At Macy’s big event They won the parting gifts To the Morning Glory Both on the second floor With two adjoining doors Mixed up the fluids at the Morning Glory Yeah, the Morning Glory Is where they found some common ground The Morning Glory Wrapped in rubber and leather bound It’s a story of friends in need A story of dirty deeds Then one day they got tired of the same routine Tired of the S&M Bondage machines So they set up in the toilet Too play some Russian roulette But neither won the round No bullets could be found Instead the two of them did drown In a pool of ammonia chloride At the Morning Glory That’s where they found some common ground The Morning Glory Is where they felt so safe and sound And this story about two friends Is a story about to end So I lied…

IT TAKES A THIEF It takes a thief to find the answers my friend It takes a thief to find the questions they are from It takes a thief to beat the odds at stake when everything is lost It takes a thief It takes a thief No matter what the cost It takes a thief to steal a young one’s heart It takes a thief to steal the treasures that they share And if you fall for the deceptions you’re not alone I’ve done it too It takes a thief It takes a thief To make one so shrewd It takes a thief to lead the old ones to the fountain of youth It takes a thief to pull away and let them drown So keep your cards real close and never show them to any one Become a thief and you will never be let down It takes a thief to find the answers my friend It takes a thief to find the questions they are from And if you wanna live a decent life well what do I know It takes a thief It takes a thief It takes a thief To steal the show

STOP! YOU MOVE WAY TOO FAST I - I heard your conversation by the vent Then you told a nasty joke at my expense It’s a mystery - it’s a horror All your secret rendezvouses Keep me dizzy - in a stupor Turn on a dime you change your colors Stop! You move way too fast My head spins - it’s a car crash romance Stop! I run out of gas I need some time like a ball room slow dance Stop! You move way too fast And I’m not ready to be your floor mat boy I - I wonder if your heart is out for blood You - You could stomp my feelings in the mud It’s confusing - you say one thing Then the next you change your mind Then you’re bragging about your new fling Right in my face - you keep on teasing Stop! You move way too fast My head spins it’s a car crash romance Stop! I run out of gas I need some time like a ball room slow dance Stop! You move way too fast And I’m not ready to be your floor mat boy

Yazmin Cries 03:07
Yasmin cries she’s had enough of taking orders for burgers and fries Yasmin cries that stupid boy she loves at school Won’t even give her the time Yasmin cries even in her dreams it’s social mess She can’t run - she can’t hide Tell ya what… Take a breath – look ahead Things will get better The sooner that ya spit at the sun Enjoy your life laugh it off right to the letter ‘Cause soon enough it’ll all be gone Yasmin cries – the thought of suicide’s an option she entertains Yasmin cries – the thought of which retreats her When her cat scratches at her leg Yasmin cries if only that boy would connect with her eyes But her tears make the mascara drip down and cloud her pretty face Tell ya what… Take a breath – look ahead Things will get better The sooner that ya spit at the sun Enjoy your life laugh it off right to the letter ‘Cause soon enough it’ll all be gone Yeah take a breath, lighten up - the future is calling There’s gonna be some good days ahead But when there’s not don’t you fret We all end up falling And some day we will all be dead Yeah some day we will all be dead That’s not necessarily a bad thing That’s not necessarily so bad That’s not necessarily a bad thing When you think about the way you’ve been had It sure beats serving burgers and fries And that stupid boy will give you all his time But you won’t care Tell ya what… So take a breath – look ahead Things will get better The sooner that ya spit at the sun Enjoy your life laugh it off right to the letter ‘Cause soon enough it’ll all be gone Yeah take a breath, lighten up - the future is calling There’s gonna be some good days ahead But when there’s not don’t you fret We all end up falling And some day we will all be dead Yeah, some day we will all be dead So lighten up you little fart head! C’mon!

BEE IN YOUR BONNET

This plastic planet – you're on it
You ain't got a way to check out
That's quite a bee in your bonnet
Not getting what life is about
You played some game and you won it
But sometimes a win is a loss
That's quite a bee in your bonnet
A cruel six-lane highway to cross
LIKE BUSY BEES WE STICK TOGETHER But when we do, I'm still alone WE TALK ABOUT INCLEMENT THE WEATHER It's gonna change again real soon
 The climate here? Oceanic!
It changes, it changes. I know
But every change makes me panic
Where can a sane person go?
That steep old roof – You were on it
A lot of bees got annoyed
If you haven't got bees in your bonnet
Well you haven't read Siegmund Freud
! LIKE BUSY BEES WE STICK TOGETHER But when we do, I'm still alone WE TALK ABOUT INCLEMENT THE WEATHER It's gonna change again real soon
YOU SAY WE'D BETTER STICK TOGETHER But when we do, I'm still alone I'm still alone! LIKE BUSY BEES WE STICK TOGETHER But when we do, I'm still alone WE TALK ABOUT INCLEMENT THE WEATHER It's gonna change again real soon
YOU SAY WE'D BETTER STICK TOGETHER But when we do, I'm still alone WE TALK A LOT ABOUT THE WEATHER It's gonna change again real soon
 It's true

Simple Man 02:52
SIMPLE MAN In the office by the cooler sits a simple man Shooting paper clips across a crowded room He plays paddle ball and eats himself a cheese and ham And there’s nothing anyone can do He inherited the business from his mom and dad Has no clue at what they did to make it run It’s the perfect cosmic role for a simple man The workers down the hall call him dumb But their paycheck’s underneath his thumb Hold on now - man you must be joking What you say makes little to no sense Hold on now - what is that your smoking Man that cat is pretty dense When it’s time to punch the clock to end another day All his snarky minions toss him off a frown But this simple man knows better than to turn away He holds a pink slip high to keep them guessing Who’ll be next to get the axe in the mail? Hold on now - man you must be joking What you say makes little to no sense Hold on now - what is that your smoking Man that cat is pretty dense Hold on now - man you must be joking What you say makes little to no sense Hold on now - what is that your smoking Man that cat is pretty intense The wonder of inheritance

A WEALTHY MAN I will always be a wealthy man When my working day is through Coming home I know you’ll understand Just what you mean to me My love is plain to see And I have always been your biggest fan From the first time that we met Your velvet voice, your charm – your slight of hand Bewitched me deep inside I had no place to hide I could not take cover I was born a new My past was disassembled to the core You picked up the pieces And then re-glued You made another creature of me Making you the teacher of me And where I go next I don’t know But I will be with you I will always be a wealthy man When my working day is through Take my word and take me by the hand And you’ll show us what we both can do I will always be a wealthy man when I’m alone with you A single point of view I could not take cover I was born a new My past was disassembled to the core You picked up the pieces And then re-glued You made another creature of me Making you the teacher of me And where I go next I don’t know We will see it through

I'M DOWN, BUT... Trying to find a lover in a haystack world I know the future is uncertain You never know when it’s time Maybe what I want is waiting at home I’ll be back in a day or two Even if this loneliness decides to tell it’s story At the books end awaits a new friend Well, every drop of rain that falls to the ground Finds it’s home at last And every drop of pain that weighs on your brow Will some day pass Well, at least it seems that way to me

about

At one point in 2020 (Covid-19 lock down time) I began the arduous task of going through a plastic bin that held approximately a hundred or so cassette tapes that contained various ideas and demos I had recorded. The cassettes dated as far back as 1975! The majority of them came from the time period 1993-2003 when I slept in a 9 x 9 ceiling corked vocal booth in the now defunct Sonic Underground Studios in Stony Brook. I lived there (in the basement as it were) for approximately 12 years. Sometimes I was awaken from a deep sleep by music coming out of an active headphone hanging near my head. Usually it was a Marci Geller, Gian DiMauro, Paul Michael Barkan, or Jim Dexter vocal or song originating from the control room opposite the vocal booth. One time in twilight sleep I believed I was drowning in a vast ocean as I heard the sound of dolphins emanating from the cans. That would be Mr. Barkan trying to find the right sea sound for his “Did Something Right” song. But for the most part when I woke up I would have an idea in my mind and straight away I’d head for my acoustic guitar or the PF-70 keyboard (that was parallel to my lumpy bed) and hit the record button on the modest boom box Marci Geller bought me as a birthday gift. So there it was, day after day recording ideas onto cassettes; refining them and then maybe sharing them with my musical co-horts. By 2005 the cassette became obsolete for me as it was easier to use my iPhone or G3 portable to record my ideas. Anyway, as I listened to these cassettes and archived them digitally (I still have another 40 to go through) I was stunned by the amount of musical ideas I had come up with. So many of them were very complete and yet I only used snippets of them to write other songs. Especially with other musicians. This collection is just that; ideas from cassettes that seem finished but never saw the light of day in that original form. For shits and giggles (as Nigey Lennon would often say) I decided to dust off some of these initial ideas and polish them up for human consumption. Under each song is information regarding what this initial idea morphed into. What amazes me the most is that some of my recent material came from ideas that were tossed off 30 years ago. I don’t even remember coming up with them back then. I thought they were new ideas! Crazy how the mind archives stuff. Anyway, the songs in this collection my not be my strongest and maybe what I eventually came up with was better but it was a satisfying project nonetheless.

Note: On the previous CD : Everything Is Everywhere, the songs "Star Bird Full Of Light ", "You Lazy Demon" and "She Got Old" were demos also taken from these cassettes and re-recorded in 2021.
