This collection is largely made up of acoustic / stripped down versions of songs I co-wrote with friends that I always wanted to sing. More specifically, In 2010 I found myself practicing for a gig that involved learning many wonderful Susan DeVita songs on guitar. In doing so my acoustic rhythm playing actually improved. Then with the encouragement of singer songwriter Joe Gioglio, we went through our respective catalogs and found songs that were reasonable to perform without the aid of a full band. It was just the both of us on guitar (him on occasional bass) and Susan's vocals to round out the sound. The biggest challenge was remembering the lyrics and playing the right chords without looking down at my guitar. In order to practice I would record myself and listen back until I was satisfied with my performance. That accounts for many of the tracks here. Unfortunately, a bad habit I have is once a gig is over and if there are no other gigs lined up for a while, I tend to just move on to creating new songs. I forget everything I learned before and only focus on the "now". So what we have here is a time capsule of a moment when I actually hunkered down and practiced. I hate to practice!
