I came up with the rhythm and chord structure of this piece in 1993 while using the Roland D50. I always loved the major / minor 7th chord. It said a lot with very little movement. So the idea of this song was just to see if I could write a piece with only a few chords. Kind of a drone (which is generally not my style) but interesting enough to move along and be memorable. I ran into some problems with this and after thinking about it for a month I decided Donna Bach would be the right person to help me finish it. I was right. Donna came up with a lot of musical phrases and we easily came up with many lyrics. At any rate, it became a favorite of Bob Ball and Blake Seals. So much so, Blake wanted me to do a re-mix ( a radio single) of it and include it as a bonus track for the CD "Realized At 21 Walnut". Since that disc is out of print I figure this is a nice place for this version. The original, more produced piece is on the CD "It’s Out There Feeding On Itself".

lyrics

A LITTLE MORE LOVE BETWEEN US

In this life - there's so much pain inflicted
Closing a door won't make the problems disappear
In this life- too many dreams restricted
Faces cry, so many scared
So many are denied
Faces filled with innocence shot down in their prime
(shot down in their prime – what a crime)

In this life - things just don't make sense to me
Extravagant cars, battle scars and starving families
In this life no substitute for insanity
You can find a heaven on earth
That's what some people say
But is all this pain and suffering
The price we have to pay?

Tell me it will come in my life
Peace on Earth
Please tell me there will be a little more love between us
and a little less dirt yeah...yeah...

In this life
I feel lost and all alone
With a million other lost and lonely souls
It's so cold
But if we take the chance to pull together
We can cross the river’s edge and dance

Tell me it will come in my life
Peace on Earth
Tell me there will be a little more love between us
and a little less dirt
A little less hate between us
And a lot less dirt

Tell me it will come in my life
Peace on Earth
Please tell me there will be a little more love between us
and a little less dirt yeah...yeah...
