I wanted to have a song on this album that bridged the
dirty sound of rap (i.e. audio fidelity) and it’s insistent
rhythm with a highly melodic structure that pulled
tensely against an unchanging harmonic landscape.
This is what came out. After the basics were tracked, I
was still unhappy with the hook. I drove around for
weeks trying to come up with just the right sentiment.
No use. Humm, who would be able to help me? I went
into my subconscious computer one night and put in
the appropriate questions. The next day the answer
was clear. Donna Bach who I wrote Saturday Night
Is Creepin’ Along among other favorites was the one
songwriter to help me. Shortly there after, she came
over to Sonic Underground Studios and in an hour the
song was done. We came up with tons of words and
different ways of phrasing the melodies. Since I had a
clear picture in mind as to how and where this song
would fit in this CD, I did my version and Donna did
hers. Donna’s version has less words and it has back
up vocals produced by Nick DiMauro. Either version
gets the point across. Love may not be the ultimate
answer but it sure makes living here on this speck of
dirt a lot easier to endure. Spread it around children.

lyrics

A LITTLE MORE LOVE BETWEEN US

“Infinite goodness means:
Creating a being that you know in advance is going to complain.”*

In this life there's so much pain inflicted
Closing a door won't make the problems disappear
In this life too many dreams restricted
Faces cry
So many scared
So many are denied
Faces filled with innocence shot down in their prime

In this life things just don't make sense to me
Extravagant cars, battle scars and starving families
In this life no substitute for insanity
You can find a heaven on earth
That's what some people say
But is all this pain and suffering
The price we have to pay?

Tell me it will come in my life
Peace on Earth
Please tell me there will be
A little more love between us
And a little less dirt

In this life I feel lost and alone
With a million other lost and lonely souls
It's so cold
But if we take the chance to pull together
We can cross the river’s edge and dance

Tell me it will come in my life
Peace on Earth
Tell me there will be
A little more love between us
And a little less dirt
A little less hate between us
And a lot less dirt
