This live drum piece is made up of two guitar ideas I had lying around for years. The drums were done off the top of my head with a basic concept of form pre-determined. From there I used my typical fill in the pieces kind of approach. Cry A Jag seems to be based on an idea that is a cross between Paul McCartney’s Blackbird guitar part and the bouncy tag that can be found on Steely Dan’s song Turn That Heartbeat Over Again. The second half, Pilloweese is based on a melody and guitar chord sequence I came up with in the early 90’s. Most probably around the time I came up with the guitar part for the Brian Rivera song, Hey Hey Paula. It’s a cross between Frank Zappa’s acoustic rarity Sleep Dirt and some Brian Wilson chords as well. Around 2006 I sang the idea into my laptop and sent it over for Susan DeVita to finish. Although she did play around with the idea, we never pursued it. Instead we focused on more commercial ideas like Nobody Says Sweetheart Anymore.
