Any similarities between the two pieces is not a coincidence. Trust
me on that!

The basic track to Wake Me When It’s Over w a s
constructed for Susan DeVita who had the urge to
do a slow, jazzy version of Frank Zappa’s classic
rock tune “Dirty Love”. After listening to this track a
few times singing “Dirty Love” over it, she concluded
that the bass and feel of the arrangement was too
active. It did not have the right dress for what she
had in mind. So not letting a good thing go to waste,
I simply wrote another song over the existing track
and had a young saxophonist by the name of Danny
Lipsitz solo on it. The single version of the song
contains me doing an interesting hybrid keyboard
solo, so it’s worth seeking out that version for conceptual
continuity purposes.
