Note: I always loved this song I wrote with Gian DiMauro. A recording of it with Gian doing a great vocal can be found on the Gearhead Freaks CD, “Not A Pretty Picture”. That version features Kevin Dunne on live drums. This incarnation was taken from the first electronic recording we did back in 1996. I took the instrumental mix of it and overdubbed my vocals and added sitar etc..
I literally had some down time in the studio and I just felt like singing. This was the easiest thing to bring up in the computer at the time. If it steers you back to the GHF CD then it was worth the effort. I believe the intial idea of this song was called “Spring Time”. We made it up on the spot sitting in the Sonic Underground control room back in 1995.

lyrics

DOWN TIME

Get on the highway and head for the shore
Catch my reflection in the sky
I got this feeling I’ve been here before but I don't know why
Could it be that…

Down time headin' 'round again
When I try to reach real high someone always moves the sky
Down time and I'm found again maybe it's not that tragic...

Cokes on the dashboard and sun in our eyes
Who could ever want for more?
Some say we're children just filled with surprised
And laughing like before
But I know that...

Down time headin' 'round again
When I try to reach real high someone always moves the sky
Down time and I'm found again - maybe it's not that tragic...
Down time headin' 'round again
Missed the cradle when it fell
Another day is shot to hell
Down time and I’m found again
Maybe it's not that tragic...

Blind ambition got me no where fast
Heard the phone ring but I missed my calling
Took a new step made it last
We're strangers in paradise tonight

Down time headin' 'round again
When I try to reach real high someone always moves the sky
Down time and I'm found again
maybe it's not that tragic...
Down time headin' 'round again
Missed the cradle when it fell
Another day is shot to hell
Down time and I’m found again maybe it's not that tragic...
Down time
Down time
Down time
Down time
