Apparently up until 10 - 08 -21 I had no idea that Jim and I did this version of :"Driving on the Left Side". I was rummaging around a shit load of DAT tapes searching for track mixes of old songs when I came about this recording. I don't recall anything about it. Sounds like we were trying to write some sort of Nationalist tune or something. Not as patriotic as the song I wrote with Marci Geller called "Born An American" (see the CD Music Box Orphans for more info) but nonetheless.... I think the version with just guitars and vocal works better but this recording does have it's charm - or maybe not.

lyrics

DRIVING ON THE LEFT SIDE OF AMERICA

If you always take a hit every time you cry
Every time you try to be understood
Know you're not alone when the fear strikes home
When the deepest cut spares the weakest bone
Some say truck on straight
And your life line will fine meaning

Driving on the left side in America
Looking for the sunshine in the rain
Driving on the left side in America
Is it all in vain?

Now some call me a fool 'cause they disagree
'Cause they can not see where I want to be
But I will stand behind my faults
And shelter all the thoughts that are real to me
You know that I won't break
I have to trust my feelings

I'm driving on the left side in America
Looking for the sunshine in the rain
Driving on the left side in America
Just looking for an exit from all this pain
I'm driving on the left side in America
Is it all in vain?

Well, somehow - somehow I'll get through
Got nothing to lose - except maybe my sanity
Well, it's a risk that's hard to swallow
but it's the only one I know
It leaves me no suspicions when I sleep at night
Leaves my intuitions in a state of light

I'm driving on the left side in America
Looking for the sunshine in the rain
Driving on the left side in America
There's gotta be an exit from all this pain
I'm driving on the left side in America
Looking for the sunshine in the rain
Driving on the left side in America
Is it all in vain?
Please tell me
Is it all in vain?
I really want to know
Is it all in vain?
