A real time piece recorded shortly after a 1986 trip across the U.S. It's about Area 51 in Nevada. All the houses in the surrounding area were boarded up and there was a lake out in the desert void of fish or birds living in or by it. It looked like a ghost town in a "Twilight Zone" episode. Musically, the hook was influenced by the 80’s classic: "I'll Stop The World And Melt With You". It's bright sounding pop considering the subject matter. I also sped up the whole thing a bit just to give it a little more umpph! The opening vocals are reminiscent of Nick's "Let It Go". This was yet another of the five pieces accepted by DMZ Publishing. The woman who talked to Nick and me said she had a group interested in playing it. We didn't trust her motives and forgot that we could write other tunes even if this one was sold. Looking back, we should have taken the deal. Stupid.

lyrics

I'LL PLANT THE BUG

Ahhhhh but why?
Ahhhhh but why?
Ahhhhh but why?

A "sheriff bible" gooed: "your'e a prisoner in this town."
"And all the assembly misfortunes are designed."

He told me I came from the north just to show off my money
I gave him a photo that nailed his mind, then he told him:

I'll plant the bug and light the fuse
(over the wayside)
I'll plant the bug and and you'll resume
(but under the mud slide)
It's shady but it's alright
See the shadow, brighter than moon light

A sub across the lake - no fish or birds lived by
And all the surrounding apartments had been closed
A military joke with pressure cooker fines,
stopped me until I was nice enough to say...
I told her:

I'll plant the bug and light the fuse
(over the wayside)
I'll plant the bug and and you'll resume
(but under the mud slide)
It's shady but it's alright
See the shadow, brighter than moon light

It's so shady
What a scam
It's so shady
See the shadow moon
Light brighter than down town
See the shadow moon
And if you should question...

I'll plant the bug and light the fuse
(over the wayside)
I'll plant the bug and and you'll resume
(but under the mud slide)
It's shady but it's alright
See the shadow, brighter than moon light etc...
