My sister Laura wrote and performed this piece on an upright piano in a dinky music room at the Staller Center in Stony Brook University. She presented it to me on a cassette for my 25th birthday. Her sincere attempt to play the piece with accuracy and meaning really came through on my speakers. I was touched. I cried. It was the best birthday gift I ever got. In 2018 for her 54th birthday I decided to re-orchestrate her piece and present to her on a CD along with the actual music notation of her original effort. I framed it. She loved it. Full circle.
