I was walking around Smithtown one day and wandered into a Cornet Music Store. I bought a "KEYBOARD MAGAZINE" because it mentioned something about a contest. It read:

WRITE A GREAT PIECE AND WIN OUR FAIRLIGHT KEYBOARD EXTRAVAGANZA!

I thought to myself, "NO PROBLEM, I CAN DO THAT!" Well, I came home feeling like I had a big exam coming up and approached the PF 70 keyboard nervously and with the utmost of caution. I winged it. The results: A flitty tune with Halloweenish features. I mailed it out the next day and forgot all about it. A few months later, I was notified that I did not win. Shortly after, I received a phone call from Titus Levi a writer for Keyboard Magazine. He liked my piece and asked for more music. He did an interview with me over the phone from California and ultimately I was put into the magazine under the title: "DISCOVERIES". It was exciting to walk into the SAM ASH MUSIC STORE in Huntington and see my face in a "real" publication. I was finally a musician. It was a boost of confidence that threw out any doubt in my mind that music might not be the path for me.
