There have been a few humans in my life who really irk me. I won't mention names but this song was written about them. In fact, one such person came into Backdoor Studios one day and said to me: "What's up Mr. Daddio?" I went pale. I thought he must have heard the tune, but according to Chris Pati who was the only one at the time to hear the piece he never told or played it for anyone! The bulk of the actual tune was inspired by Steely Dan's "Haitian Divorce" and after hearing Billy Joel sing: "Big Shot" live over the radio in what was once called The Soviet Union. I think I sound a little like Joel on this cut. I finished this piece in one of those cruddy practice piano rooms at Stony Brook University. The synth sounds come from the Casio CZ 5000 (not a bad keyboard for a bunch of watch makers).
lyrics
MR. DADDIO
When you walk in the room Mr. Daddio
Oh, Oh, Oh,
You better stop where you are Mr. Daddio
I can smell your attitude in the air Mr. Daddio
You expect so much for free
Like talk on the radio
You expend your gas on me
I don't buy it Mr. Daddio
Oh, Oh, Oh
WAHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH!!!
When you squawk on the phone Mr. Daddio
Oh, Oh, Oh,
I have to read in between your scenarios
Yes it sucks to beat around the bush Mr. Daddio (George Bush)
I don't fall for your routine anymore Mr. Daddio
I'm not the douche I used to be anymore Mr. Daddio
No, Oh, Oh,
WAHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH!!!
Get lost
Take a hike
There's assholes out tonight
At the bottom of the sump where the scumbags float
Your kind of people are typically trite
Like paper plates with your name on them
WHOA!!!
(cheap Casio CZ 5000 solo plays here)
Oh, Oh, Oh,
WAHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH!!!
Get lost
Take a hike
There's assholes out tonight
At the bottom of the sump where the scumbags float
Yeah, your kind of people are typically trite
Ya got paper plates with your name on them!
Don't patronize me now Mr. Daddio
Oh, Oh, Oh,
I'll have you nailed to a cross Mr. Daddio
I can see behind your sleaze bag eyes Mr. Daddio
What a feckless trip you took me through
Such a waste Mr. Daddio
And I hope someday to be like you
What a twist Mr. Daddio
Oh, Oh, Oh,
WAHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH!!!
WHINE!
