Nobody, Nobody Knows

The hook of this song was derived from an idea I came up with
back in 1993. The lyrics were : "Nobody, nobody knows about a tiny little place in Georgia"... (repeat ad infinitum) The basic melody was sung over a D9 chord and that was reminiscent of the song "Saturday Night Is Creepin' Along". Not too thrilled about that. Somehow, I wanted it to be part of the song "Soldier Town" but that never materialized. In any event, I sang it periodically to Gian DiMauro while we were coming up with songs for the Gearhead Freaks debut CD. Again, the idea went nowhere but the melody shows up in the outro of the song "Ya Gotta Re-Type It". That's Gian playing the repeated line on trumpet on top of the tritone harmony.

Ten years later I came up with a verse and pre-chorus and somehow joined it with the N.N.K melody. The lyrics were then changed after I started thinking about the future of our earthly environment. That whole mess in Fukushima, Japan really upset me as it did Bob Ball who always made it a point to stress the severity of the situation whenever I interviewed him on Clam radio. Selfish governments of the world never took enough initiative to stop the radioactivity from leaking into the Pacific ocean. One more reason our planet is becoming unfit for life. What will happen in the next decade? Nobody, nobody knows but fate.

lyrics

NOBODY, NOBODY KNOWS

Rivers - taxi cabs for flowing life forms and emulsions
Rivers - taxi cabs for flowing garbage to the oceans
The seagull and all it’s mates
They come to gather by the dumpster crates
If a pizza box shows up - great,
They’ll have more plastic cheese to munch on
But is this something they should count on?

Well, Nobody, nobody knows
What the future has in store tomorrow
Nobody nobody knows
Would you care to speculate?
Nobody nobody knows but fate

Sunshine – reveals the floating pesticidal pollen
I’ve been coughin’
Sunshine - reveals the radiated skin cells on a dolphin
While a satellite watches you
We’re nothing more than human cellular phones

The mystery of what we do no longer hidden like a dog bone
Could be your name is on the next drone

Well, Nobody, nobody knows
what the future has in store tomorrow
Nobody, nobody knows would you care to flip a dime?
Nobody, nobody knows what the future has in store tomorrow
Nobody, nobody knows not I

Suspended belief - like the child hood stories of yesterday
No kind of relief sittin shiva when love ones pass away
The man behind the curtain was gone
The day his guessing games were sold to gypsy queens

(The gypsy queens…. Look into my crystal ball – you fools!)

Wave goodbye to the honey bee
Welcome the Fukushima folly parade
A world of absurdities to feed creations endless wedding
I wonder where the whole thing’s heading…

Well, Nobody, nobody knows
What the future has in store tomorrow
Nobody, nobody knows would you care to speculate?

Well, Nobody, nobody knows what the future has in store tomorrow
Nobody, nobody knows but fate

FATE!

Nobody, nobody knows etc…
