THE BIG STUDIO DECISION 10/95

This piece was realized the day I decided to call up Mr. Blake Seals and turn down his offer to be part of a new state of the art recording studio. My long time musical partner and friend Nick DiMauro did not turn down the offer and he proceeded to design and wire the place as well as wear the hat of chief engineer.

“Am I out of my mind?”, I kept asking myself repeatedly all day. “You need a better studio”. “Don’t be a fool for torture!”
But alas, I just could not say yes. I went to bed that night feeling existentially nauseous.

Later on that week Marci Geller asked me, as she was about to go out to get the mail, if there was anything Jim Dexter and I would like. Jim said he wanted a stick and of course I asked for a record deal. Well on her return back to the house she brought Jim a stick and handed me a letter from Muffin Records. The letter basically asked me if I wanted to negotiate a deal with them! Well how do you like that? Pretty good timing, hah? Perhaps my intuition to hang in there strictly as a composer, was right.

Forward 19 years later and Muffin finally released one of my CDs on their newly resurrected label. I know. Who cares? Well, I did get a record deal. So there! I guess I’m the "Muffin Boy" the Priest predicted back in 1991. (See the Brian Rivera CD Tragedy @ Hand for more details.)

lyrics

JT ( borrowing shamelessly from Mike Crum) : And in this corner we have...

The Priest : Who's idea was it to staple gum to the last page of this Bible?

JT : And in this corner we have...

The Priest : Who's idea was it to staple gum to the back end of this tortoise? PHILLUP!
