The title of this tune derives from one of my favorite movies. I won’t tell you which one but I will state that an American who achieved his initial fame doing cartoons for a tremendously funny British comedy group of the 1970’s directed it in and around 1985. In this flick, all sorts of forms had to be completed in order to get anything done. One such form that was necessary to fill out was a 27b-6 form. This was required if any air conditioning ducts needed inspection or repair. So what we have here is a piece made up of several variations (forms) on a theme in 7/8. Each time it appears it gets shorter in length. It is constantly interrupted by dialogue from a 1986 trip across the USA, I took with Nick DiMauro, and my sister Laura in a red tiny Suburu™. A bit of Smokey Lee Webster Wrestles “Wid” It emerges at one point and eventually we cut through all this red tape, so to speak, and reach the end of this theme with a surreal Zappaesque live guitar explosion that never really took place in front of an audience. The solo originated in another tune on this collection and was re-synchronized with the vamp that is actually made up of the chords from Corny Muzak Train Of Doom. This is a technique Zappa™ used on a few albums he made in the late 70s. I wonder what Frank would have thought had he lived long enough to hear this piece. A Zappa™ rip off? I don’t know, but I love this kind of stuff. Xenochronolgy can be fun when there are no musicians around at 4 in the morning to be spontaneous with.
