After my first attempt at copying Elvis Costello's vocal stylings (“Freakin' Peppy Lightnin' Shoe" from The Akai Years), I still wasn't satisfied. I was compelled to do it again. And for some reason when I use this kind of voice, I come up with a complete song in a few minutes. (It’s the instant Costello F /x formula. Add water makes it’s own tune!) I recorded the drums in one take, just winging it in my head. The words came out quick and the hook very (Lennonesque) was an idea born on an AKAI reel to reel tape. It's a sarcastic tune that I really enjoy singing. I later covered the same subject with “I’ll Sell You A Lie” and “Zombies It’s Alright”. With the exception of the ending I think it comes across pretty well. It has an ultra quick fade because the 8-track tape ran out while recording. I was never one to waste any virgin tape.
