This song was inspired by the BP Gulf Of Mexico oil spill disaster of 2010. It came to me in the car while listening to National Public Radio spew out all these facts about how BP is not nearly paying as much as they should in terms of fines and how they knew about the potential danger in drilling this deep. Not to mention they skimped out on the construction of the drill in order to save some money. The whole deal really pissed me off. They’re short sightedness ruined a whole ecosystem and who knows what the ramifications to the rest of the planet will be? It’s just irresponsible. And the sad thing is (as I write this now 11 months later) no one is saying word about it. It’s like it never happened. At any rate, the lyrics took on a more general subject matter so as to be applied to any of the big forces out there who continue to ruin our planet and boss us around. People will only take so much before they blow. Watch out when they do.
